Behold what two sketch paintings in Photoshop can bring when married together! That hour was well spent. Playing around with custom brushes, I slapped the background together in just 5 minutes! Days later I painted this fellow in about a half hour while lecturing about Photoshop’s features.
This was a commissioned portrait. The box is both exterior and interior, in that the frame looks like the outside of the apartment buildings along the Amsterdam canals, while the inside of the box depicts a sunny day outside along said canals. I was going to place him on his bike in the center, but it occurred to me that were he moved down and to the right, he would appear to enter our space more while revealing the details of the box. I left off any roofing to light the painted sky. Its 2 feet tall, acrylic on cut luan.
